Contemporary art rooted in Ibiza’s earth pigments.

Process

Foraging pigments
Using nature as your art supply store is a conscious process, only take the earth and rocks you need.

Smashing and grinding
Using a hammer to smash the earth and stones into smaller pieces, grinding these pieces with a pestle and mortar to a fine powder.

Sieving and storing
Using a sieve to remove big stones and vegetable matter and storing the clean pigments in jars.

Mixing and mulling
Using a palette knife to mix pigment and binder, mulling until a homogenous paint while paying attention to the sound and vision, from raspy and uneven to quiet and smooth.

Testing and labeling
Archiving the color on paper, naming it and labeling its origin. Storing the paint in the local palette, using seashells as a container.
